Bogus Backfin

   After reading the 6/7/09 review, I came just for the crabcakes. I've been in FL for 2 years (from Baltimore) and can't find a decent crabcake. Anyway, this was my last hope and I was very disappointed. This was not a crabcake, it was a bogus crabcake. Sure it looked good from the outside; I could see the big beautiful lumps of back fin. Then, I jumped in. Oops, what's this? This is a concoction of claw meat and seasonings, formed from an ice cream scoop and studded with the lump back fin. Save your money. If you want real crabcakes, just buy the back fin and make them yourself. ldh

   Being a retired Chef of 25+ years, owning 2 restaurants-one in Maryland...this cafe, by far, has the BEST CRABCAKE ANYWHERE. Their atmosphere is all Florida...a real treat for anyone wanting exceptional service and culinary delights.

Why Eat Anywhere Else?

   Not wanting great food with great service at great prices in a great atmosphere, would be the only reasons for dining elsewhere!!!

   There just arn't better crab cakes around. My friends would rather have a get together there than any place else. Ya got to hand it to the Chef. Yum is all I need to say.

   I just love the backfin .on my most recent visit our server went out of her way to accommodate our every wim .in no way shape or form did she mock me or my wife and the table didnt wobble . this restaurant is our favorite and every time we come from NEWYORK we head straight there

   Gulfport's Backfin Blue Cafe, owned and operated by "Chef Extraordinaire" Harold Russell, is quite simply the best! Once blue, Chesapeake Bay has turned green with envy over Backfin's jumbo crab cakes (though first thought to be caused by excessive algae, the truth was eventually revealed), and rumor has it that restaurants throughout Kansas City and Omaha are removing the prime rib from their menus (embarrassed after savoring Backfin's). And the meatloaf,...and the macadamian encrusted pompano or snapper or grouper or ...
   And it's cheap!!!
   Oh hell, I'm headed over there right now!

   I love this restaurant, it was one of my favorites when I was visiting the area. I was just amazed.

   By far the best resturant in the Bay Area.
