Eric,
I really enjoyed your insights on this! Thanks for reminding (and introducing) readers to this important music.

RE: Letters

It is unfortunate that a local artist with an “ax to grind” because we have never featured him on the EMIT series, can take a “sucker shot” at another artist and a nonprofit organization that has given so much to our community. During the past 12 years, EMIT has presented over 120 concerts of adventurous music here in the Tampa Bay area. We have featured amazing artists including Sam Rivers, Amy Denio, ROVA, Pauline Oliveros, Tim Berne, The Glass Orchestra, Birdsongs of the Mesozoic, Moving Current Dance Collective, Derek Bailey, Peter Kowald and many, many more world-class musicians. Our admission fees have always been affordable as part of our mission to serve all of the community. We have featured many local artists over the years as well. Dave’s letter is infantile and self-serving. Sadly, we haven’t featured Dave on the EMIT series because his music isn’t that interesting. Who wants to hear a guitarist noodling endlessly with a Line 6 delay box?
