RE: Mandatory Madness
Posted by J on 02.13.07 @ 10:49 PM
How did we get to this point? This is an incredible story for those of us suffering with Acute Chronic Pain. I do not know all of the facts in this case, but there are so many issues in this story that I face every day. If Mr. Paey was trafficking pain meds, then he should pay the price in prison. If he in deed was trafficking pain meds he hurts the entire minority population who need pain meds everyday to survive. I do no just want to survive, I want to work and live life to the fullest. I have heard people say, "why do you still take pain meds, you are exercising and seem to be ok?" I think that question is why so many people think that we are taking pain relievers just to get high. We take pain meds because we want to be able to do the things that people with out acute pain can do. The pain meds allow us some what of a life. Pain meds do not make me high nor do I take Pain meds to get high. I am able to exercise, do physical therapy and go to a Carolina Panthers game every once in a while. I am able to work and be a productive member of society. It's funny; I used to drink socially before my two back surgeries. I was an avid runner and stayed in real good shape. Since my surgeries and requiring daily pain meds, I have quit drinking. The pain meds do not hinder my ability to think clearly nor do they cause any problems driving. I am in Chronic Pain everyday. None of my friends or family understands what I have to go through each day. Although I take Pain Meds, I still have pain; however I can mentally deal with it most days with the help of my medication. I read that the assistant da, mr. scott andrinda did not have any feelings about what happened to Mr. Paey. I am very saddened that the government has scared doctors and chronic pain suffers to the point that anger and paranoia has set in. I agree that my condition is a disease and that it should be treated as such. Why were pain meds created in the first place if it can not be used? Why should people suffer everyday? Why are we paranoid and angry? I am sick of it. All I can do is be honest with my doctor. Take my medication as prescribed and hopefully everything will be ok. I worry all the time that I am going to be disregarded because of the discrimination we face. Disregarded by law enforcement, doctors and society. I have many stories that I can tell you about my past 7 years of pain management that are absolutely ridiculous. Lastly, if Mr. Pay is guilty, and he is the only one that really knows, then he should pay. He should pay the price for hurting all of us who are just trying to do the right thing. However, if he is innocent, I think that this is a tragedy for Mr. Paey, his family and friends. It is also a tragedy for those of us who suffer everyday. Not just a small tragedy that I can write on paper and maybe get some empathy, but a HUGE TRAGETY for America and it's hard working, life loving people. Thoughts and prayers for all, J If interested in learning more about my experience, which is very detailed, please email me. I would love to share my past 7 years and hope you will share with me.
