What an Ass!
Re: "Naked Without Shame" by Nano Riley (July 2-8)

You know sometimes I just want to write in to let you guys know that not all your readers are lefty libs. Some of us are actually conservatives!

That said, your story "Naked Without Shame" was right on. As a registered independent, freethinking, open-minded libertarian/conservative, I've got to say that the "conservative Republican Mark Foley" most certainly doesn't speak for me. What an ass!

I've been invited to Lake Como by a fulltime resident and I had a fine time. The people there were very proper and decent. I saw first hand that nudity does not equal indecency. There are many more important issues that "conservative Republican Mark Foley" could be addressing than trying to persecute families who choose to be nude in the privacy of a fenced resort. Our tax money should be better spent.

Thank you for your comprehensive, non-sensationalized and informative exposé on the American Association for Nude Recreation youth camp at Lake Como.

As a naturist watching this unfolding controversy, it is refreshing to see balanced reporting that represents what we naturists and naturism-nudism are about. Ms. Riley "gets it," while many are currently speaking from ignorance, without gathering the facts and truth, for reasons only they know.

As a parent of two kids who attended this camp, I greatly appreciate the article Nano Riley composed. My oldest son has been attending the Junior Florida Association for Nude Recreation camp for six years and my second son for three years. They both have attended church camps, but they both prefer the nude youth camp. They have a better time and make better friends at the nude camp. My third son is not quite old enough to attend yet, but he is eager to go with his brothers.

It truly is a shame that our American society is so perverted and screwed up that we cannot differentiate between sex and nudity. Nudity without sex can be extremely refreshing, relaxing and even healthy. Our kids can grow up without having a double standard and truly know the difference.

As a family we practice nudity at home as well, and I truly believe that we have three well-adjusted boys. They have learned to respect other people's rights and feelings. They can make friends without being judgmental. Live and let live, and accept a person at face value.

Again, thanks to the Weekly Planet and Nano Riley for the fantastic write-up.

Fat Cats, Thin Story
Re: "Fat Cats Rule" by John Nichols (June 18-24)

I was disappointed not to find any of the (supposedly bad) policy changes actually listed in this article.

Also, it appears prejudiced when anything done in the past few years is mentioned as a Bush-related negative, while things done during Clinton's periods are anonymously dated.

Frankly, I was biased to believe the worst about the media congloms, but your story was so shallow and factless that my position is changed. I am now neutral until such time as I learn some facts. Perhaps this is your ultra-subtle editorial method -- but I doubt it.

Still waiting to read an actual story.
