The spring/summer 2009 edition of New York Fashion Week is on the horizon and trend scouts have forecast ruffles and bows, saturated hues (hot pinks, fuschias, corals, greens) and the revival of retro '60s styles -- printed swimwear, Capri and palazzo pants, peasant blouses, Bohemian caftans and flowing maxi dresses. See '09 designs for both men and women by Ed Hardy, Affliction, Alberto Makali, Love Notes, Perry Ellis, Betsy Johnson and many others during (818)RED, a charity event cohosted by the Art Institute of Tampa and Dillard's. In addition to the runway show, AIT faculty member/artist Edward Lewis exhibits a series of mixed-media paintings he created using clothing donated by Dillard's. Proceeds from the event support the Global Fund, an international trust created to provide treatment, counseling and research money for AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria in countries around the world. Fri., Aug. 1, 8 p.m., The Art Institute of Tampa, 4401 N. Himes Ave., Suite 150, Tampa, $75 general/$150 V.I.P. (includes a 7 p.m. cocktail hour, dinner by AIT's International Culinary School and front row seating), 866-703-3277.
