We had better wake up soon or what we cherish will be gone. We need lovers of our Constitutional Republic, what we use to call conservatives and Jeffersonian liberals, to speak up. In my mind Dr. Ron Paul is the only Presidential candidate speaking to the issue of saving our Republic from those who seek to destroy it.

Absolutely brilliant article. It's why the I always append the term "idiot" to the term conservative. It's "conservative idiot".

More of the moronic same from the left's best! I tire of it daily and read this only because the FBI was mentioned.I think the left and right are in serious need of overhaul. We don't need party's, we need real people that follow our framers in their belief in,"For, by and of the people", is best for all of us. I do not believe it will come in my time or anyone's time. Just my constitution at work in my own mind...

I actually had to try to keep myself awake to read this drivel. I really think this is the left's real mentality, There is nothing newsworthy and I wonder why anyone wasted the paper and ink. Pure unadulterated trash.

I would probably have never noticed the original article, but upon reading elsewhere about that FBI behavior, I became determined to read the original article in its entirety, and immediately did so. Those FBI agents have indirectly recruited readers such as myself to read the article. Next, the FBI will just have to shoot us all. After all, any citizen could be a potential terrorist, and might do something dire if left alive. Then, in the post-cleansing time, when the remaining population of the U.S. is a very small percentage of what it is now, Bush & Co. can make up the difference in the labor pool by importing slaves from Africa, just as their spiritual forebears did.

Well-written, good content. I enjoyed this article a lot. I would have been honored to be questioned by the Feds after reading this ;)

Outstanding article!! It is completely appalling that the young man was interrogated by the FBI for reading this. The message in the article is even more true today than when it was written.

While I agree with the majority of this article, I feel that much of it is doing exactly what it is condemning. It is a scathing commentary on stupidity and "following the crowd", and such is deserved by many. But as the former girlfriend of one of our soldiers, and the friend of several more, I believe in supporting our troops. Perhaps not what they do, but the men and women themselves. They are deserving of that much. Most don't want to be there, but to face humiliation, disgrace, court-martial and worse if they don't follow orders? That is something that most of us would not be willing to do, and is not fair to expect others to do. I don't classify myself right-wing, left-wing, or top-wing. I attempt a balanced perspective, and I think the most aggressive problem we have is the political divide between the two wings, and a lack of people who are willing to choose the middle. Extremes in any direction, even a good one, ESPECIALLY a good one, are deadly. Excellent article however.

On a day to day basis, I find myself entangled in stupidity, and maybe it is just ignorance. When are people going to regain consciousness regarding compassion for life, in general? When are people going to act out of love instead of fear? Great article. I will pass it along. cheers

FBI investigates suspicious reading in public -- From American Libraries Direct, an e-newsletter of the ALA: Two FBI agents visited Atlanta bookstore employee Marc Schultz after they were tipped off that he had been reading something “suspicious” in a coffee shop. Turns out it was a printout of a column by Hal Crowther titled “Weapons of Mass Stupidity” that appeared in a Tampa free weekly. Schultz writes: “I say it seems like a dark day when an American citizen regards reading as a threat, and downright pitch-black when the federal government agrees.”... The degree of stupidity evident in the American electorate is incredible and embarrassing. Thanks for a jolt of mind caffeine!

...that one solitary news outlet doesn't conform to your leftist dogma. You're so intolerant, so closed-minded, and so caught up in your hatred that you won't consider any ideas or opinions that don't march in lock-step with your liberal propaganda.
